The Academy of Parish Clergy, Inc. selected Just Preaching: Prophetic Voices for Economic Justice in the Top Ten Books for Parish Ministry published in 2003. In a world that is deeply divided, just preaching becomes a common ground for ecumenical and interfaith dialogue and unity. Bringing together essays and sermons from an impressive list of leading scholars, pastors, and rabbis, Just Preaching shows not only how to preach on social justice but also what is at stake for God, for communities of faith, and for the world in matters of social distress. It orients preachers to the theological, biblical, and contemporary social and economic realities that confront the impoverished in our society and empowers preaching to move congregations to act justly in concrete ways for those for whom God desires special care. Organized around eight topics of social and economic justice and preaching for justice, each section features an introduction from the editor, an explicatory essay, and sample sermons to inspire your own preaching.
