Inhaltsangabe:
This practical guide should be useful to the petroleum engineering professional, as well as being helpful to the reservoir simulation novice. For the practitioner, it is a fully functioning reservoir simulator. For the novice, it is a hands-on-introduction to the process of reservoir modelling. The book describes and shows how to apply reservoir simulation technology and principles. It combines concepts and terminology, an integrated case study and DOS-based software to present a comprehensive overview of reservoir simulation principles and their applications. Supported by instructions and documentation, the software, called BOAST4D (designed for a 486 PC or better, with a math co-processor), is suitable for understanding and applying reservoir management concepts, and solving reservoir engineering problems. The software - a three-dimensional, three-phase, black-coil simulator can also be used to model horizontal wells and perform the geophysical calculations of four-D seismic monitoring of fluid flow. The software also solves material blance problems. The text-and-software package is designed as a tool for performing studies that are too sophisticated for analytical solutions, but do not require full-featured commercial simulators. Several example data sets on disk help the user apply the simulator to a wide range of practical problems. An instructor's guide is available upon request to those who are qualified. John R. Fanchi is the author of "Parametrized Relativistic Quantum Theory" and "Math Refresher for Scientists and Engineers".
