'Private Angelo' is a war satire novel. The novel follows the adventures of an Italian soldier during World War II, beginning with the Italian armistice of 1943, looking at Angelo as he tries to regain control over his life during the war. Written by Eric Linklater. Linklater was a Scottish novelist and poet. He also wrote a memoir about his experiences in the First World War, 'Fanfare for a Tin Hat'. He also published 'Juan in America', 'The Wind on the Moon', 'The Impregnable Women', and more. With colour illustrations endpapers by David Gentleman. Gentleman is an English artist who is known for his work in engraving and lithography. He is best known for his platform length murals at Charing Cross underground station.
