Romilly (1916-67) was a nephew of Winston Churchill, and Alexander (1920-2004) was a relation of the famous Field Marshal (although not, as the Germans suspected, his nephew). Their memoir includes portraits of several other special fellow prisoners in Colditz known to the Germans as Prominente: among them relations of the British royal family and Earl Haig. When this book was published within a decade of the war, critics praised it.
