[xxvi], 154 pp. ML Binding Style 5, powder blue balloon cloth, top edge blue, with Kent torchbearer device in blind on upper cover & grapevine in gilt at foot of spine, with Kent endpapers; in early typographic dust jacket. A fresh copy, with bright gilt titling and decoration. Scarce in jacket. This depression-era binding style was in production for less than a year. Very near fine in good to very good dust jacket. To front pastedown, handsome old bookplate of Captain Cook's coat of arms, with 'circa orbem' ('around the world') above and 'nil intentatum reliquit' ('he left nothing unattempted') below.
