It is a slight recognition not only of your own essay [.] but also of your unremitting attention to the works of my class throughout the year'.The writer of these messages,Caesar Litton Falkiner, was an Irish Unionist Party politician, barrister and a writer on literary and historical topics, editing a significant number of volumes of poetry and prose. In 1886, he was president of the Dublin University Philosophical Society, and studying at both the university and the King's Inns.With a four page publisher's catalogue to the rear. In the publisher's original quarter morocco binding, with cloth covered boards. Rubbing to back strip head and tail and joints, with fading to board perimeters. Front hinge starting, with board holding firm. Inscription to a front blank, and loosely inserted letter. Internally, firmly bound.
