Forty five years have passed since I became an outdoor photographer. What an exciting career! Early in my profession I made a promise to the Lord that if He would bless my photographic efforts, I would always try to glorify Him with my cameras. Earning a living in outdoor photography can be a serious challenge. I soon learned that it was not so much genius as it was plain hard work! I think of those beautiful calendar scenes with lighthouses, flowers, even old barns and setting suns as a part of God’s handiwork. That’s precisely why, as a Christian, I would enjoy and even make a living taking pictures. I could capture and use all those beautiful images and settings for the very reason God made them in the first place. We produced many different programs that were shown in churches and auditoriums throughout North America. Not only do we have a large collection of photographs, but volumes of notes and narrations we always wanted to put into print. Through the seasons of the year, as well as the seasons of life, there is no book of the bible more loved by the people of God than that old familiar songbook of the Old Testament, the Book of Psalms. It is a book filled with joy and praise and adoration! It is truly the “Songbook of the Ages” and its words have been sung for thousands of years. How many broken hearts and anguished souls, filled with despair and pain, have read with tear filled eyes that “The Lord is my shepherd,” or “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most high, shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty!”

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor: Don and Fran Van Polen have been in the Multi-Media business for the past 45 years. Their presentations have been shown in some of the largest churches and auditoriums in North America. Don Van Polen graduated from Calvin College in Michigan and later attended the University of Arizona taking graduate studies in the field of Criminology and Abnormal Psychology. With this background, he later became a Junior High math/science teacher and school administrator. After 10 years of teaching, he was smitten with photography as well as travel. Don and Fran Van Polen's journeys have taken them from the steaming jungles of New Guinea, the ancient streets of Jerusalem, the slums of Calcutta to the grandeur of a North American Autumn. A highlight of their career was when one of their productions, "Autumn across America" was selected as the feature program at the World Convention of the Photographic Society of America in Seattle where they received a standing ovation. Their presentations have been shown in some of the largest churches and auditoriums in North America from Edmonton to San Diego; from The Harvard Club in Boston to Seattle Center in Washington State. Their presentations have been shown at numerous Photographic Conventions along with the Kodak Cavalcade and National Geographic Presentations. DVDs produced by Don and Fran are distributed by FOX RECORDS throughout Europe and the US. Don and Fran live in Mount Vernon, Washington, Their hobbies include beekeeping, woodworking and a small sawmill.
