It is most likely this was purchased as is, a single item and later bound with other items, then at some time unbound as came with other Paine items of different dates and a couple of plays of similar dates. I have a number of works by Thomas Paine, all published and sold by Watson at his various addresses between 1841 & 1853. Watson sold them in single volumes or separately. He sold all his works in two volumes for 3 shillings each volume, or you could buy them separately for between one pence and 1 shilling & 6 pence each, this item cost 4 pence in 1841.
