Full leather prize binding for Trinity College, Dublin, gilt titles, raised bands, gilt centrepiece to the upper and lower boards, gilt page edges and dentelles. Engraved portrait and title page. Contains all six of Terence's plays, viz. Andria (The Girl from Andros) 166 B.C.; Hecyra (The Mother-in-Law) 165 B.C.; Heauton Timorumenos (The Self-Tormentor) 163 B.C.; Phormio 161 B.C.; Eunuchus 161 B.C.; Adelphoe (The Brothers) 160 B.C. A fine copy in the original Latin. 351pp. Approximately 6 ½ inches tall. Condition Report Externally Spine good condition gilt titles, 4 raised bands, blind tooling to the compartment edges, decorative blind tooling either side of the title, worn with minor loss. Joints fair condition rubbed and worn, front joint is cracked but holding. Corners good condition bumped and worn. Boards good condition full leather boards with blind tooled borders, there is a gilt centrepiece for Trinity College, Dublin, to both, some wear to the leather on both boards. Page edges good condition all gilt. See above and photos. Internally Hinges good condition intact. Paste downs good condition the front paste down has a prize label pasted to it dated 1833 in Latin, gilt dentelles, some foxing to the edges, on the rear paste down you can see the imprint of the gilt design on the rear board. End papers good condition plain, some offsetting from the dentelles. Title good condition engraved title page, lightly tanned with some foxing to the edges. Pages good condition engraved frontispiece, contains all six of Terence's plays, viz. Andria (The Girl from Andros) 166 B.C.; Hecyra (The Mother-in-Law) 165 B.C.; Heauton Timorumenos (The Self-Tormentor) 163 B.C.; Phormio 161 B.C.; Eunuchus 161 B.C.; Adelphoe (The Brothers) 160 B.C.
