This is the two volume set, complete, of this title. It is the second edition, corrected and improved. Volume 1 has 239 pages, Volume 2, 252. The leather boards of volume are detached, appear to be charred, and have pieces missing. There are five raised bands on the spine. There is a book plate attached to the front paste down, and it looks like another book plate had also been attached and removed. There are also some dates in ink, 1819, on the paste down. There also seems to be a bit of insect damage to the edges of the leafs from the front free end paper through the 14 pages of preface to page 2 of the text. There is worn gilt striping on all edges of the boards. Leafs are soundly bound to the text block. The rear free end papers show a boarder of toning. Volume 2 has the same book plate removed from the paste down and the newer book plate is attached to the front free end paper. It appears someone has cut out information from the top edges of the front free end paper, the half-title page, the title page, and the first leaf of the text. Where the paper has been cut out the next page is toned and has a previous owner's name on page 3. The front board is cracked but attached at the hinge, the back board is detached.
