Glicksberg (Brief) / "Letters and Documents By or Relating to Hugh Peter", Edited with Notes by Raymond Phineas Stearns (Continued from Vol. 72, page 72) / Ship Registers of the District of Newburyport, 1789 - 1870" - Compiled from the Newburyport Custom House Records, now on Deposit at the Essex Institute (Continued from Vol 71, page 366) [Has an accompanying illustration depicting a painting of the ship Spartan, built in Newburyport in 1834] / Book Reviews / Annual Report of The Essex Institute for the Year Ending May 1, 1936 - List of Officers and Committees ************************ PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Volume pagination 111 - 180 (70 pages) plus 43 pages comprising the Annual Report; approximately 6 3/8" x 9 15/8"; printed gray wraps, glued and stapled (paper covers) - untrimmed, mostly unopened leaves. ************************* CONDITION - NEAR VERY GOOD - Clean and presentable - with the following noted: An unread issue - ie: the leaves are still mostly unopened the leaves (bolts) are still joined). / EXTERIOR : The staples used for the binding have rusted and discolored the cover and interior pages at the point of contact between paper and staples- there is a bit of surface abrasion - near-negligible wear to cover edges - else basically clean and presentable. / BINDING : Solid . no pages are loose or detached. / INTERIOR : a few of the leaves have been separated (the Bryant / Whittier article a couple of leaves in the genealogical section), else the issue remains mostly unopened - I spotted at least two instances of leaf edge tears, else clean and presentable.
