Stain on top right hand corner and adjoining edge, including title page and embrittlement of page edges resulting in occasional loss to margins; otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated by engraved frontispiece, engraved text figures and by folding map. A detailed descriptive guide to the railway routes constructed by 1851, the towns and cities they passed through and other sites in the vicinity of lines, frequently indicated as to right or left of railway. Compiled by the publisher, Edward Churton (-1885). Although it appeared soon after the peak of the great Victorian railway boom, the title, perhaps on account of its size and weight and general lack of portability, did not achieve the popularity of other railway handbooks like Bradshaw and was not further revised.
