Natural da Villa de Alcoutim; cujo se achava cativo havia vinte e hum annos em Maquinès. Dá-se noticia do modo, e industria, que teve para alcançar do filho d ElRey Mouro o seu desejado resgate. Ilustrado com xilogravura alegórica gravada na folha de rosto, representado as duas personagens da obra e com um belo florão de remate na página oito. Exemplar com leve oxidação natural do papel. Obra muito rara de literatura dita "Folheto de Cordel" do século XVII. Inocêncio não regista. A obra consiste num pequeno conto em que se confrontam as concepções religiosas cristãs e islâmica, nomeadamente sobre o céu. O cativo cristão consegue enganar o filho do rei mouro e obter a liberdade deixando claro a moral do conto: a superioridade da religião cristã sobre a religião islâmica. Illustrated with engraved allegorical woodcut on the title page, depicting the two characters in the work, and with a beautiful finishing fleuron on page eight. Copy with light natural oxidation of the paper. Very rare work of so-called ?Cordel literature? or chapbooks (popular and inexpensively printed booklets or pamphlets containing folk novels, poems and songs. They are so named because they are hung from strings to display them to potential customers, and the word for rope in Portuguese is corda, from which the term cordel is derived.) from the 17th century. Inocêncio does not mention. The work consists of a short story in which Christian and Islamic religious conceptions confront each other, particularly about heaven. The Christian captive manages to deceive the Moorish king"s son and obtain freedom making clear the moral of the tale: the superiority of the Christian religion over the Islamic religion.
