Inhaltsangabe: Are Tzitzit disease carrying Mediterranean flies? Are Aljamas the night clothes worn by religious Jews? Did Philo of Alexandria invent matzah dough? Are Israeli cherries harvested during the Jubilee year? The answer to these and many other challenging and entertaining questions of Jewish Law, Tradition, History, and Popular Culture can be found in RASHI, RAMBAM and RAMALAMADINGDONG: A Quizbook of Jewish Trivia Facts & Fun, by Mark D. Zimmerman.
RASHI, RAMBAM and RAMALAMADINGDONG consists of over 200 questions and answers, each with an informative correct answer, and each with other humorous entertaining choices as well. Subject matter ranges from Bible (In what valley is Absalom’s Pillar located?) to Entertainment (What is Carole King’s real name?). From Jewish History (Who is Yosef Caro?) to Israel (What are Ginnegar and Ginnosar?). From Jewish Law (What is Viddui?) to the Totally Absurd (What did Doron Menashe of Israel do 22,200 times in three hours?). Learn the answers to these questions, and also consider whether Blech is what an Orthodox Jew says when he discovers that he accidentally ate non-kosher food. Whether the Bintel Brief has something to do with underwear. Whether Midrash is a skin disease common in the Middle East. And whether Joseph Hertz coined the United Jewish Appeal slogan, "Give ‘til it hertz."
Laughing and learning at the same time. A great concept, and a unique book!
