In-4 (4to), 290x225mm. French language. "Contenant: 1º. les Pêches aux Hameçons, Haims, &c.; 2º. différentes sortes de Pêches; 3º. les Pêches aux filets; 4º. les Pêches de mer, de rivières, y compris les tableaux & vues relativement aux Pêches, &c." 32pp comprising half-title, title-page, and explanations of the plates; followed by full complement of 132 (ie 114) plates of which 18 double-page (each of these counted as two plates, hence the figure 132). Half-title a little dust- & handling-marked, toned at upper-, lower- & fore-edges, nicked at fore-edge, and with a little loss at lower outer corner. Title-page faintly dust-marked, lightly toned at upper- & fore-edges, with a little oval-shaped loss of length about 10mm and width up to 3mm adjacent to fore-edge, beneath which minor fore-edge nicks and slight loss at tip of lower outer corner. The loss at title-page fore-edge with associated single near-closed tears and minor indentations at fore-edges of following leaves of text, the tears decreasing in length from about 10mm at pages 5/6 to negligible nick at pages 31/32; slight loss at tips of lower outer corners also persisting through text, except at pages 25/26 where greater loss of width up to 13mm and height up to 15mm at lower outer corner, but well away from print. Text otherwise lightly toned towards edges, with occasional minor dustiness and/or handling marks in fore-edge margins. Plates generally clean, tight and very good, with just a few images affected by isolated spots. Plate margins here & there lightly toned, faintly spotted, and a little dust- or handling-marked, with light creases at a few corners, and occasional minor dampstains, creases or slight losses at corner tips. Versos of some plates a little marked. Edges of text-block age-toned, top edge most deeply so. Recent full leather binding. Smooth spine with gilt title on maroon morocco label, and gilt decorations. Boards with gilt ruled borders within which gilt florettes at corners. Original flyleaves, contrasting only a little with aged paper used for replacement pastedowns. Appearance of binding not too adversely affected by varnish stains - in form of unevenly scattered black or almost-black patches and spots & specks over front board, fairly evenly scattered spots & specks over rear board, and much less densely scattered spots & specks along spine, as well as lighter stains in form of cloth- or brush-strokes clearly visible over front board but hardly visible over rear board. Hinges a little rubbed, with slightly-opened surface splits of variable lengths up to 120mm from heads and tails. Board edges a little scuffed, with variable surface loss; corners with variable light wear, though remaining square. Endpapers a little toned and dust- & handing-marked, rear endpapers also with a few minor spot-stains. Binding holding firmly and, despite stains, of handsome appearance; contents complete, and generally clean and tight. VERY GOOD copy. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 27338
