Francis E. Leupp (1849 - 1918) was a member of the US Board of Indian Commissioners from 1862-1895. He was Commissioner of Indian Affairs under Theodore Roosevelt from 1905-1909. In this book Leupp examines the relation if native people with the government, with whites, and with the "Social Order." He also discusses Indian missions and "The Red Man as Teacher and Learner." Also discussed is the "Aboriginal Red Man" and "Aboriginies who are Not Red Men." Original red cloth binding with black spine and cover lettering and decoration. There are old previous owner names on the free front end paper and a hint of faint spotting along the edge of the spine at the gutter, else this a nice clean, tight and unmarked book with no interior or exterior markings.
