Milo Park is the worst player on his squad and everybody knows it.

He can't jump. He can't aim. What he can do is notice things — and in a village where every single person is being far too nice, that turns out to matter.

Pockethollow is meant to forget each day at dusk. It hasn't forgotten one in nine hundred days.

The villagers remember every morning they have lived. Every supper. Every time they died and woke up at the well, over and over, and carried on being cheerful about it.

Bell the innkeeper has been carrying all nine hundred days by herself.

She is about to ask Milo for something he does not know how to give.

FOR PARENTS

Ages 8–12. About 30,000 words across 24 short chapters. Written for confident readers and for kids still building stamina.

For the kid who'd rather be on a screen. Short chapters, fast stakes, and a story that moves like a run through a level.

A quieter, stranger one. Eerie rather than scary — no monsters, nothing chasing anyone. The tension comes from a friendly village that remembers too much. What Milo has to do is sit with someone who is struggling and not walk away.

Content: no romance, no graphic violence, no bad language. It ends well and everyone is all right.
