Hardcover. Bound in full leather, very dark blue (nearly black) with elaborate gold lettering and decoration on the spines. Covers with gold rules and decorative borders. Very attractive. Some signs of wear at hinges, but all still tight. Gilt page edges. Firmly bound and clean throughout. Title page dated 1821. Stated Fourth Edition. 416 pages. This copy has a beautiful, original fore-edge painting, showing a city scene with horses and carts, hoop skirts and smokestacks. This volume is bound to match the 5 volumes of Walter Scott listed beside this on ABE. Please email with questions or to request more photos.
