A very scarce volume featuring a report from the U.S. Senates claim proceedings. Published in 1856, the volume is a report of decisions made under the convention of February 1853 between the United States and Great Britain. These findings were transmitted to the senate by the President in August of 1856. The then president was Franklin Pierce, a northern Democrat opposed to the abolitionist movement. It was in 1856, the same year of this works publication that Pierce failed to be renominated by his own party to run for the presidential election.
