By Jabez Richardson and printed in New York City by Lawrence Fitzgerald. 1860, 192 pp, 6.75 x 4.5 , 12mo, hardcover black cloth with gilt decoration. In fair condition, with rubbing and wear to boards and spine. Some looseness to front board, along with cracking to front hinge. Loss to edges and head of spine. Text block remains bound well with minor wear. Ex-libris bookplate and light marginalia. Periodic black-and-white in-text sketches thorughout. General age-related toning to pages, along with periodic foxing and wear. Please see photographs and ask any questions prior to purchasing. A scarce piece and early edition on Masonic history and practices, written as persecution of the group decreased in the United States and information about customs and rituals became less secretive.
