Montague fought in the First World War, despite being too old to enlist, and became an armed escort for important people visiting the battlefield, amongst them H. G. Wells and George Bernard Shaw. In the publisher's original full cloth binding with an unclipped dust wrapper. Externally very smart, a little faded to the spine, which has a few marks to it. Dust wrapper is a touch sunned to the spine, which also has a few scattered spots and a little chipping to the head and tail but is otherwise lovely. Internally, firmly bound.
