1978 second printing of the 1973 facsimile edition of the SECOND EDIITON of 1900 that has a lengthy memoir of Jones written by W. M. Crook and the appendix of additional climbs that occurred after publication of the 1897 first edition. Original brown boards with gilt lettering spine. The book has some wrinkles along the gutter of outside rear hinge (apparently due to a misfolding at time of publication) otherwise clean and fine with no previous owner marks or writing on any pages, no foxing, tight binding, probably never used. The dust jacket is near fine with no tears, no soiling, no loss, very minor handling marks, original printed price present on flap corner. This original dust jacket the white dust jacket variant with red lettering front and spine, b/w photo on front of climbers atop Gable Needle (same as plate opposite page 168) and the frontispiece b/w portrait photo reproduced on the rear cover, and with printed price of 5.95 pounds on front flap corner. This version of the jacket seems to be uncommon. The book measures 227mm tall x 145mm, and has 322 pages + 9 pages of original ads at the end, 32 b/w photos, 9 sketches, index.
