Artikelbeschreibung des Verkäufers

FIRST EDITION, double-page highly decorative map by Dulac, photographic plate of author in contemporary garb climbing the Isolated Buttress, faint trace of paperclip rust on title-page and flyleaf corners, Penrith ownership inscription, pp. 28, small 8vo, original mustard-yellow boards, cover with title and illustration of perilous cliff ascent in black, rear board with a few small marks, textblock slightly loose, very good. A delightful, practical guide for the London-based mountaineer - 'We have our enthusiasm, we have our ropes and our boots, but where are our rocks?' - including Redleaf House Rocks, Chiddingstone Hoath, Ashurst Wood, Bull's Hollow (Tunbridge Wells) and detailed climbs of Harrison Rocks - the illustrated map, featuring rabbits, thorny wild briars, a 'Quaggy Place (very gloomy)' complete with half-submerged top hat and umbrella, and the 'South End of Fox going south' from the slightly unexpected quarter of Edmund Dulac.
