Light wear to to extremities. Minor scuffing to boards. Later bindings. Bookplates of George Barons Northcote on front pastedowns. Marbled end papers remain bright. Interiors are lightly toned with scattered foxing. Free of known markings. Bindings tight and intact. Top edges gilt. Please see photos. Northcote family provenance. Robert Southey (1774-1843) was an English poet of the Romantic school, and Poet laureate from 1813 until his death. Like the other Lake Poets, William Wordsworth and Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Southey began as a radical but became steadily more conservative as he gained respect for Britain and its institutions.
