THE LEGACY OF ONE REMARKABLE CHILD In this dynamic collection of short stories told from the perspective of a severely disabled child, Eric Pearson depicts snapshots in the life of his son, Ryan from his birth in December 1989 to his passing in March of 2004.He portrays the events in his son’s life as happy and funny as well as providing descriptions of the misunderstandings of the community about disabled children and their value in society. Pearson describes how his family and support network coped with the challenges of living with a child with severe disabilities—Ryan only developed to the cognitive age of a three-month-old. Ryan had a full life being involved in every possible family activity. The stories are written to offer the reader not only insight into his family and community life, but also to provide hope and suggestions of how to begin and work through the grieving process during and after the passing of a child.

Eric P. Pearson is a respected teacher, coach and leadership program director. He coached in his local community for over twenty years and has developed personnel and leadership training programs as the Director of Staff Development for Northrop Grumman Corporation. His severely disabled son, Ryan, died at the age of fourteen, surviving twelve years longer than the medical community predicted.
