Gorgeous gilt title impressions, and embossed decoration of woodland scenes, both on the front board and spine. The green cloth, hardback book is in reasonable good condition. Normal wear and marks apply consistent with use and age. Corners of boards slightly bend inwards, with a tiny bit of wear from use. Some shelf life wear and pages 99 to 110 have slightly come away from threaded binding on just the base part so still connected to binding. 215 pages, plus eight publisher's advertisment pages, all intact apart from the mentioned above. All pages, and text are in good, readable order. No published date, therefore i have taken the published date from the Preface, by Moutfield, Near Faversham dated May 1872. Just after the title page is this page with the printed words " To the Right Honourable The Earl of Shaftesbury, K.G. This Volume of Poems is, by permission, most respectfully inscribed, in admiration of the strength of his Christian Character, The Vigour, Persistance, and breadth of his Philanthropy, and the general Influence of His Life in upholding Virtue, Spreading Truth, and Amelorating the Sorrow of Mankind".
