6 1/4" x 9 3/4" oblong, hardbound viewbook, unusual with string ties, marbled end papers. Undated but circa 1885. This consists of 25 pages of albertype photos of Western views (helio-type photographs), typically four to a page. There are panoramas or bird's eye views of Denver, Oakland, San Bernardino, San Diego and Salt Lake City, and numerous railroad scenes, Chinatown, the Rio Grande and Mexican border towns, Yellowstone, etc. Although no publisher is listed this was very likely produced by the Chisholm Bros., Portland Maine.
