Soil stabilization is a process to treat a soil to maintain, modify or expand the performance of soil. In this research work the utilization of marble dust and Alccofine as a soil stabilizing material is tested. Marble dust is the most widely spread and easily available waste materials that are produced by the industries. The marble dust is made during trimming, smoothening and grinding of marble stones. Alccofine 1108 is cement based micro fine boosterfasten powder. It is based on individual particle size distribution (PSD) technology to advance constructive filler of fine gap, opening and vacuum. Soil stabilization is a very important part of highway construction to bear the heavy load of vehicle. This is because some soils don’t have such ability to bear the heavy vehicle load in the result the pavement get collapsed. To avoid such type of deformations of highway the soil must be stabilized so the bearing capacity gets increased. Cement and lime are the two most widely used admixtures for the stabilization of soil since many years. But now a days, due to depletion of natural resources there is an increase in the utilization of the waste materials. Some of the materials used are fly ash, marble dust, foundry sand, rice husk, bagasse ash, brick kiln dust etc. These materials not only provide an alternative to the usage of convential materials but are also helpful in controlling the environmental pollution. Utilizing these waste materials will help in reducing the pollution and thus leading to a more sustainable approach of construction. In the present study improvement in the properties of soil was done by adding various proportions of marble dust (i.e. 2.85%, 5.70%, 8.55%, 11.40%, 14.25%, 17.10%, & 20%) and Alccofine (i.e. 2.14%, 4.28%, 6.42%, 8.56%, 10.70%, 12.84%, & 15%).
