large format hardback [31x25cm]. 1st impression. the original gilt decorated blue cloth binding is a bit worn and rubbed and the blue colour is a bit darkened. the front hinge is a little weak with an old sellotape repair mark. internally the book is clean and the thirty stunning colour plates from paintings by Jack Spurling are in lovely bright condition, with the tissue guards present. the sepia tone frontispiece and folding map are also present. small private book-plate to foot of front inside cover. [heavy book that may require extra shipping costs for some overseas destinations] volume two of the three volume work - one of the finest compilations of sailing ship art, with Jack Spurling's painting ably complemented by Basil Lubbock's authoritative text.
