A very good copy, for its age, of the first Methuen's Sixpennies edition of this humorous novel. No Dust Jacket but it was clearly issued with one as the front flap (in very good condition) is tipped-in inside the front cover. Cover: blue and white paper covered card paper with blue and white lettering to front and spine and blue lettering to rear; bright and clean; rubbing to all edges and slight chipping to top and bottom of spine, commensurate with age and use, some slight darkening to spine but overall good for its age. Internally: very clean and soundly bound but both hinges beginning to crack; no markings, inscriptions or book plates; some darkening to pages and edges; otherwise in remarkable condition for a paper back of this age. 252 pp. plus 4 pp, advertising material.
