Mr. Saotome, having lost the respect of his students, demands that Principal Todo grant him his resignation. Of course, Todo convinces the hapless teacher to settle his grievances in the ring.against the student, Shizuka Kusanagi. The new K-Fight system introduced by Mr. Todo, though, has sent the school into pandemonium, with students fighting each other in the hall in ostensible sanctioned combat. All the bloodshed has begun to bring out Ryoko's softer side as her feelings for Tatsuya, captain of the school's Kendo Club and her personal mentor, come to the surface. But she has some competition - the school's Naginata-Jitsu champion who also has a thing for Tatuysa, and Tatsuya's childhood friend Shiori who has a crush on him as well. The object of so much schoolgirl fancy, Tatsuya is hardly swayed from transferring schools at the end of the semester, an event that will force Ryoko to find her own inner strength.
