Jacket sadly tatty, with edge wear, chipping, short closed tears and loss to top and bottom of jacket and spine, corners and folds rubbed with loss, spine worn away, some overall dust and time staining, not price clipped (10s 6d), gift inscription to ffep, internally clean tight and square, overall a reasonable copy for its age and obviously well read condition. 200pp. An extremely apposite title for today's situation. Journalist John Fischer (1910-78), displays some real prescience in his analysis of the likely unfolding of the US/ USSR relationship and the Cold War, despite writing this book just after WWII. He has a number of interesting observations of the Ukraine and the rest of the USSR from his time there as an employee of the UNRRA (Goodreads review).
