Seventh impression from 1955 of a book originally published by Macmillan in 1948. The boards have light discolouration and there is also a slight spine lean. Browning and some scattered spotting to the page edges. Vertical crease down the length of the front free endpaper. The endpapers have a little browning and there are a few scattered spots to the pages which are generally clean and unmarked. The jacket has some rubbing and chipping to the corners with four closed tears. These have been repaired on the reverse where there are several strips of tape reinforcing the edges. The reverse of the jacket has quite a bit of browning and there is some light scattered brown spotting to the front and rear panels but in general it has retained its colouring well.
