Beschreibung
A very smart edition of H. C. McNeile's early work, 'Sergeant Michael Cassidy R.E', written under his pseudonym, Sapper. This work is an early edition, in original publishers green cloth binding with the scarce, unclipped dust wrapper. The work was first published in 1915. This work was written by Herman Cyril McNeile, a British soldier and author who often drew on his personal experiences in the trenches during the First World War. During the war, McNeile had many short stories published in the Daily Mail, and then continued writing fiction post-war. McNeile wrote under the pseudonym 'Sapper' due to the fact that serving officers in the British Army were not allowed to publish under their own name. This particular work is comprised of a collection of stories set during the First World War, depicting the encounters leading up to the first battle of Ypres, presenting the character Sergeant Michael Cassidy. In original publishers green cloth binding, with the unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, excellent, with minor shelf wear. Age toning to endpapers. Hinges starting but holding firm. Dust wrapper in good condition, with chipping and small tears causing some loss to the extremities. Small cut to the head of the wrap, causing slight loss to title. Sunning to the wrap, mainly to the spine. The odd mark to the wrap. Internally firmly bound. Pages clean and age toned. Very Good Indeed. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 872Q26
