The author writes a lovely message to the addressee, Benjamin Brown, in which he praises Brown's skill at crafting arguments for his clients. It is a great message! (though I had a little trouble with reading some of the words.) Book is in Great condition! A little wear on the cover - corners are bumped a bit. A little rubbing on the back cover. Gilt has faded on the spine. Green dye on the top page edges has faded. Interior is immaculate! Bright and clean, and with uncut pages! (There is a little staining on the inside covers, but that's it!) This is a pretty RARE book! It is the author's attempt to analyze Shakespeare's Merchant of Venice. The author states in his preface that: "And yet, today, more than three hundred years after its creation, this play is, I believe, the most widely misunderstood and misinterpreted literary work of modern times."
