Silver gel photograph corner mounted with title label on front. Photograph measures 3 ¼ x 3 ¼ inches. Mount measures 6 ½ x 4 ¼ inches. Photograph is likely dated to the late 19th or early 20th century. Photo has moderate foxing and mount has moderate sunning and soiling. Overall good condition. The photograph depicts a horse-drawn carriage with "Shattuck s Jersey Stock Farm Co." and an illustration of a jersey cow painted on the side. A woman stands outside the carriage and palm trees and some chickens are in the background. A previous owner has written on the title label "Los Angeles" and on verso "Shattuck s early jersey stock dairy Los Angeles 1905." We found one reference to the Shattuck Jersey Stock Farm Co. in the August 1899 issue of the "California Cultivator and Poultry Keeper". The publication notes the fine quality of the Shattuck jersey stock and the company s jersey cow is pictured on the front of the issue. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 024545
