Inhaltsangabe: Poetry. Interrelated blocks of prose poems that weave through beautiful narratives--personal yet universal--layering lyric fictions over and under one another into the deeper truths about the earth, interpersonal relationships, and humanity, the language of heat, poverty, darkness and light, hunger, and the contemporary myths from which truth is found.
About the Author: Christien Gholson grew up in the navy, never in one place for very long, but claims Florida and Belgium as formative. He attended Naropa University and the University of California at Davis. His work has appeared in such publications as ANOTHER CHICAGO MAGAZINE, HANGING LOOSE, ALASKA QUARTERLY REVIEW, BIG BRIDGE, CIMARRON REVIEW, and BLUE MESA REVIEW. This is his first book. He is a Professor at the University of California, Riverside and the recipient of the PEN USA Freedom-to-Write Award, the 2001 Prince Claus Awards, a Lannan Literary Fellowship, a California Book Award, a Hurston-Wright Legacy Award and the Hemingway Foundation/PEN Award. Selections of his poetry appear in the online journal Blackbird.
