Inhaltsangabe: This book is a centennial tribute to the eminent pianist Alexander Uninsky (1910-1972), a Chopin interpreter par excellence. His international career was launched after winning the 1932 Chopin Competition in Warsaw. A friend of Prokofiev, Ravel and Stravinsky, Uninsky served on the faculties of Royal Conservatory of Music, Toronto (1955-1962) and Southern Methodist University, Dallas (1962-1972). His world-famous Chopin readings brought out subtle finesse and a pearly tone, whereby the rubato in the right hand was accompanied by an impeccably accurate left. Consecrated by critics as an obvious successor to the supreme keyboard giants of earlier generations, Uninsky was called ?great among the greatest? and ?Master of the Masters? by the French and Polish press. The book is richly illustrated with photographs, concert programs, record covers and autographs. Three articles by Uninsky unfold his views on two of his favorite composers.
