A Craft Tint Permanent Sketch Book, manufactured in Cleveland, OH, small octavo. 157 leaves, approximately 95 with sketches on mostly rectos. Dates range from 1957 to 1969. Approximately 60 sketches of human figures of various ages in numerous poses, with another 15 or so labeled "Cedar Key" (in Florida). The most intriguing sketches, however, are the 15 from 1969, most likely from television images, of the lunar landing; some of these sketches are labeled "Moon," "Astronauts working on moon," "Setting up flag on moon," "Flying Old Glory on the moon," "Aldrin Moon," and "President Nixon talks to Armstrong + Aldrin on moon." The majority of these moon sketches are labeled "Bill Johnson." According to www.nasa.gov, Bill Johnson was the longtime chief of Media Services at the Press Site in Launch Complex 39 at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, having begun his career at NASA in 1965.A unique item featuring wonderful sketches capturing a NASA employee s take on the moon landing.
