1st edition, very good, small wear to edges, with a good+ dust jacket, small wear to extremities, with a priced unclipped dust jacket flap, published by The Viking Press, New York, 314 pages. This is Gene Fowler's last book and is his nostalgic look at New York in the Roaring Twenties, and the people he knew, mountebanks, impostors, quacks, bums, and the "Greats" of the era; Babe Ruth, Grantland Rice, Ben Hecht, Charles MacArthur, William Randolph Hearst, Jack Dempsey, Henry Ford, and numerous other colorful characters, with a large part of the stage devoted to the fabulous Damon Runyon, Broadways most famous citizen and one of the leading wits of Park Row, whom Fowler knew better and longer, than did anyone else. Fowler stopped writing this book when he was 62, and finally finished the last chapter at age 70, the book was published posthumously. A fascinating look at a fascinating era, and a great read!.
