295 pp. First edition. Among the papers remaining after the death of Leo Shestov was an unfinished manuscript, entitled Sola Fide, written in Switzerland between 1911 and 1914, which was not printed at that time. The manuscript is a certain key to the philosophy of Shestov, a spiritual autobiography, the only one in Ukrainian and Russian religious philosophy, and more than 70 years after the death of Shestov is of great value. Shestov chose the heading of the book Sola Fide (only by faith). It is no coincidence. It classifies us to the time of Luther, when the reformer arbitrarily changed the text of the Holy Scripture: the words of the apostle Paul to the Romans - `Man is justified by Vera` on` Man is justified only by faith`. This moment, which caused many disputes of theological circles, not only vividly characterizes the struggle of the young Luther for faith (see chap. II, 2nd part), but, in fact, the wandering heart by Lev Shestov himself, whose struggle for faith was so close to the struggle of Luther. The manuscript consists of two parts, without indicating the title. The editors called these parts: Greek and medieval philosophy, Luther and the Church. Shestov did not publish the manuscript entirely in 1920. Probably because some of the ideas expressed in it entered the book of keys written in Russia between 1914 and 1918 and published in Berlin in Russian in 1923. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 13798
