Laminated illustrated wrappers, 4to, 167 pp, ills. 344 lots. From the introduction: "Travel literature has always served not only to delight and amaze, but also to spur others to do likewise. The collection offered here is remarkable for this: it contains books which in the past have impelled others to follow suit. It also contains some of the great travel compilations, by Ramusio, della Valle, as well as certain remarkable and rare books, such as Ludovico de Varthema's Novum itinerarium, in the first Latin edition published in Milan in 1511 (lot 332)."
