Souvenir de Baalbek, Liban, No 1, 10 Cartes . i.e. an Album of 10 hand coloured postcards ( real photographs, hand coloured, then printed) of the ruins of Baalbek, Lebanon. Complete, the 10 postcards are joined together and folded, attached into the paper wrap-round covers, so can be cut along the fold and be used as a normal postcard with printed post card rear with printed details to rear in French & basic details of each historical image to front top of each card also in French. overall Size Closed 14.5 x 9.5cm. Condition; Foldover grey covers Very Good, some minor dirt/ageing, the third part of cover that folds inside the rear is in Very Good condition, some minor edge fading. Looks like the covers may have originally been a maroon colour, and faded to grey. The postcards open out so can be seen as a long set of 10 or opened to see as 2 each. All postcards in very good condition to photographic front, rear very good, except very minor dirt to first back only when open. Looks like the original photographs were taken in black & white around 1890-1905, then later hand coloured, and then printed. Publisher is Moise J. Zagha, Boite Postale 151, Damas, Syrie. From a quick net check could not find another set on the net, Zagha produced other sets and found one set where they dated as 1908. So looks to be about 1900 to 1914.
