Otherwise, a near fine set - clean, bright and unmarked. ~I~ [2.0P] This trilogy follows linguist Elwin Ransom's adventures across the solar system, encountering both spiritual battles and advanced scientific concepts within a unique blend of science fiction, fantasy, and Christian philosophy. (1) Out of the Silent Planet (1938): Ransom is kidnapped and taken to a planet he knows as Mars (Malacandra), where he discovers it is inhabited by sentient beings and ruled by a divine being. He must evade his captors and the plot to sacrifice him. (2) Perelandra (1943): Ransom travels to a new, Eden-like planet (Venus) to protect its inhabitants from the Devil's agent and a temptation similar to the biblical Fall. (3) That Hideous Strength (1945): Ransom returns to Earth and finds himself involved in a struggle against a sinister organization that is using dark, supernatural forces and advanced science to control humanity.
