Artikelbeschreibung des Verkäufers

Beautifully produced survey of Islamic calligraphy by Abdelkebir Khatibi and Mohammed Sijelmassi, published by Thames and Hudson. A richly illustrated volume covering the evolution of Arabic script, styles, and artistic traditions across the Islamic world, with strong visual appeal throughout. This copy comes from the personal library of the know poet and anthropologist Nathaniel Tarn (born Edward Michael Mendelson), and includes a small group of laid in ephemera, including unused postcards featuring calligraphic imagery and a Museum of International Folk Art exhibition mailer, addressed to Tarn. A nice contextual tie in to Tarn’s interest in global visual culture. Book is clean and bright with crisp pages and strong color plates. Covers show light handling wear. Ephemera is clean and well preserved, adding visual and collectible interest.
