Art print of a black ink drawing of Spruce Tree House at Mesa Verde National Park. Circa 1932. Art print is on thick, cream-colored paper and measures 15" wide by 12" tall. Artist has written the title of the piece and signed her name underneath the print in black ink. All corners are lightly worn. Light toning to the length of print on the left side, affects content. This drawing looks down on Spruce Tree House, depicting the sandstone cliffs, vegetation, and the cliff dwelling, with multiple story buildings and kivas. Mary Elizabeth Burwell was active around the 1930's, selecting focal points such as Spruce Tree House, Square Tower House, and Cliff Palace for her pencil and pen drawings. Burwell's rendition of Spruce Tree House was created from a photograph taken by William Pennington. William Marion Pennington photographed people and landscapes across the Southern United States in the early 1900's.
