Originally titled Ecclesiastical History and Mystical Contemplation, this commentary by St Germanus of Constantinople (+733) exercised tremendous influence on the Byzantine Christian world, serving from the eighth to the fourteenth century as the quasi-official explanation of the Divine Liturgy.
