Über die Autorinnen und Autoren: John C. Green is distinguished professor of political science and emeritus director of the Ray C. Bliss Institute of Applied Politics, University of Akron. He has written extensively on American campaign finance, political parties, religion, and politics. He is editor of The State of the Parties: The Changing Role of American Politics Parties (2022), now in its ninth edition, and coauthor of Secular Surge (2021).

Daniel J. Coffey is associate professor of political science at The University of Akron and a fellow in the Ray C. Bliss Institute of Applied Politics. He has published in State Politics and Policy Quarterly. He studies political parties, public opinion, state and local politics, campaigns and elections, and research methods.

David B. Cohen is a professor of political science, Director of the Applied Politics Program, and Fellow of the Ray C. Bliss Institute of Applied Politics at The University of Akron. He teaches courses and conducts research on the American presidency, Congress, and homeland security.

William F. Connelly, Jr., is the John K. Boardman Politics Professor at Washington and Lee University. He is also founder and director of the university's Washington Term Program.

Peter L. Francia is the Thomas Harriot College of Arts and Sciences Director of the Center for Survey Research and is professor in the Department of Political Science at East Carolina University. He is the author of numerous academic publications on various topics related to American elections. His books include The Financiers of Congressional Elections: Investors, Ideologues, and Intimates, co-authored with John C. Green, Paul S. Herrnson, Lynda W. Powell, and Clyde Wilcox; The Future of Organized Labor in American Politics; and the volume, Guide to Interest Groups and Lobbying in the United States, co-edited with Burdett A. Loomis and Dara Z. Strolovitch. Dr. Francia's insights on American politics have been included in the press accounts of national media outlets including CNN, National Public Radio, and the Wall Street Journal.
