Color plates showing a large number of steelhead fly patterns dressed by many well-known fly fishers, including several premier practitioners of the art. Plus dressings for hundreds of flies. Black and white photos and biographies highlighting Pacific Coast steelhead fly fishing pioneers along with a few "steelhead crazies" and descriptions of the rivers they fish. A monumental and well-received book on the sport. The book is bound in black cloth with gilt titles on the spine. Pictorial dust jacket. A previous owner has tipped-in on the front end paper a color plate (salmon flies) from Mary Orvis Marbury's book, Favorite Flies (the plate is from an early edition - printed in six colors - and it's a belated homage to Victorian beauty).
