This is a remarkably lovely set of seven volumes, complete, that comprise Rosini's history of painting in Italy. Three quarter crushed Moroccan leather bindings, handsome marbled paper over boards, sewn in green linen ribbon bookmarks still intact. Little but cosmetic wear to papers, tips, spine heads and feet, extremities, edges, etc., no really great structural wear (but see below). Matching marbled endpapers front and rear to each volume. Light foxing to, soiling of endpapers, else the interiors are remarkably bright and clean, unmarked, and tightly bound, leaves being cut unevenly. Feels unto rag paper. Tomo I., published in 1839, is given over to Epoca Prima da Giunta a Masaccio: 264 pp. including Note of Errata, index. Tomo II. was published in 1840 and is 300 pp. in length and with an index, and all of the plates that went with Tomo I. are bound in here, thus a total of 50 plates in black and white, of paintings and etchings. Tomo III., published in 1841, has another 46 plates, but that which was to be inserted at p. 211 is not there. Tomo IV, published in 1843, has 78 plates in 342 pp. Tomo V., published in 1845, has 77 plates in 376 pp. Tomo VI has 300 pp. and an Index, and was published in 1846, containing 65 plates. Tomo VII. has 246 pp., then a Supplement (lxvii of Supplement to this volume and then 85 pp. of Supplement to the entirety), published in 1847 pp. Some scuffing to and loss of leather here and there, a bit more to the marbled papers, else and withal a very handsome set that looks great on the shelf.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards.
